Recently I was working on building more SEO value for a website. I set up a handful of keywords that were all very similar in style. “Diner in Nashville, Restaurants in Nashville, Dinner Places in Nashville, Nashville Restaurants…” the list goes on. The issue I was having is I had a long list of keywords to rank for, but I didn’t know which of the most powerful keyword I wanted to rank for. So, how do I figure out which phrase is the phrase I want to rank for?

I could just use paid search and get all the keywords, but with SEO, I’m really only able to build a site to rank for a small handful of keywords. Finding our focus keywords is often the most important step of a good SEO campaign. Let’s take a look at a few tools we can use to determine what our focus keywords should be.
